Tony winner Michael Cerveris will play Kent, with Larry Bryggman as Gloucester and Logan Marshall-Green as Edmund alongside previously announced star Kevin Kline in the upcoming James Lapine-helmed mounting of King Lear at the Public Theater. It has also been announced that frequent Lapine collaborator Stephen Sondheim and Michael Starobin will compose an original score for the oft-produced Shakespeare classic.
The full cast list includes Brian Avers as Edgar, Kristen Bush as Cordelia, Philip Goodwin as the Fool, Piter Marek as the King of France, Laura Odeh as Regan, Daniel Pearce as Cornwall, Michael Rudko as Albany, Ryan McCarthy in the Ensemble, Angela Pierce as Goneril, Tim Stickney as Oswald and Joaquin Torres as the Duke of Burgundy.
King Lear will play its limited run at the Public from February 9, 2006 through March 18, with opening night set for March 7. Tickets will be available on Broadway.com beginning January 7.
